Gaming in HTML5

Posted by Sumpm On September - 15 - 2010

Google has already shown us that creating games in HTML5 and Javascript can be done very well, but now a programmer named Dominic Szablewski has created something even more fun.

Biolab Disaster is a Mario-esque game, written entirely in HTML5 and Javascript, and works in most browsers.  It’s only a 3-level game, and not very difficult, but it’s a) a great time waster and, b) an excellent example of what a game can look like written in HTML5, without the use of Adobe Flash.

Super Mario Crossover

Posted by Sumpm On June - 3 - 2010

This is absolutely the most genius mashup I’ve ever seen.  Super Mario Crossover is basically the same Super Mario Bros. game we all played as kids, but with old-school video game characters that you can substitute for Mario and Luigi.

The characters come with whatever powers they had in their own games, which makes destroying Mario World enemies even more fun than before.

Newgrounds user ExplodingRabbit:  "This is my first game, and I have worked on it for over a year. It has been a long journey, but I think you will see that all of my effort has paid off. I have recreated the entire game of Super Mario Bros, but now you can play as different characters. Each character plays just like they do in their original games with a few modifications to make the experience better."

Good work, man; it was definitely worth it.

Dwarf Complete

I found this flash game awhile back and thought I’d share it.  It’s somewhat similar to Zelda, but a lot shorter to play.  I think it took me 4 hours on and off the first time I beat it.  Anyway, it’s better than work, so waste some time.
