I heard about Aviary.com’s newest feature on net@night Episode 107 this past week, and thought I’d pass it on. Basically, Aviary.com has added a new feature that makes taking screenshots of your browser a whole lot simpler.
The first way to use it–on any browser–is to type in the URL of the webpage you want to capture, after http://aviary.com. In other words, type in something like http://aviary.com/http://google.com. What happens next is, it’ll take you to a new page on Aviary’s site, where you’re able to see the screenshot of the URL you just entered, along with all the photo editing tools you need to modify it. You can then save it to your computer, or save it to host on Aviary’s server (you’ll have to register for an account).
The second, and more complete way of using the tool requires you be using Firefox. Aviary has a Firefox add-on that allows you to more easily select the area of the screen you want to capture, and immediately save it to your computer. The add-on places a button along your toolbar area that allows you to click, highlight, and then hit Save, Edit, or Copy to Clipboard. It couldn’t be simpler.
